Selfies of Success for Authors welcomes Tom Winton with "Forever Three' the sequel to 'Beyond Nostalgia.

Meet author TOM WINTON

Tom Winton was born and raised in New York City. During his working career he has done everything from pounding spikes on a railroad gang in the Colorado Rockies to driving a taxicab in Manhattan. He’s also been a mailman, a salesman, an entrepreneur and more. He lives in the Great Smoky Mountains with his wife Blanche and their ill-tempered but loveable Jack Russell terrier, Ginger.

Said to be a man who writes with his pen dipped in his soul, Tom has been listed as one of Amazon's Top 100 "Most Popular Authors" in both Literary Fiction and in Mystery, Thriller and Suspense. His bestselling novels have been likened to such classics as Catcher in the Rye, To Kill a Mockingbird and more. His titles are Beyond Nostalgia, The Last American Martyr, Four Days with Hemingway's Ghost, Within a Man's Heart, A Second Chance in Paradise, Forever Three, and a short story collection The Voice of Willie Morgan.

About, FOREVER THREE- If ever there has been a story to give voice to the joy and pain of love, it’s Forever Three.

For far too long author and nice guy Dean Cassidy has lived with the misfortune of loving two women at once. Over and over his heart has been stretched, wrenched, twisted, and bruised in an emotional tug-of-war.

Dean has loved his wife, Maddy, since long before they took their vows, but after 22 years, he still can’t shake the memory of his childhood sweetheart, Theresa Wayman. And now things are getting worse. Suddenly, the torturous triangle is closing in on him like a three-sided vice.

Day after day Dean is pummeled by a dizzying, soul-numbing succession of guilt, joy, tragedy and uncertainty. He’s all but lost the will to go on. Nevertheless, the human spirit does not destruct easily. It is resilient and tenacious. And as close to going down as Dean is, he’s determined to keep swinging until the very end. The question is will it be enough?

REVIEW OF FOREVER THREE. By Soooz Burke on Amazon.com

Having read and been deeply moved by ‘Beyond Nostalgia’ I was delighted to find that author Tom Winton had penned a sequel.

Although this book can easily stand alone.

Life has pain in store at some point, for all of us.
It’s how we deal with that pain, and how we struggle, often unsuccessfully, to move beyond it that alters the end game.

Author Tom Winton has tapped into that pain, that experience; the regrets, the longing … and the destructive forces we humans carry within us to destroy what we have, before it destroys us.

The character of Dean is a man, a complex, fallible man, and a man capable of great love. He is equally capable of being blinded by what once was, at the risk of losing what now is.

It is part of the human condition to wonder “What if?” To nurture and dream of the ‘If only …’ in our lives.

This author has a deep gut level understanding of these demons that propel us. He possesses the enviable gift of empathy, an empathy that draws us in, because we recognize these characters, and the things within their nature that lay buried within our own psyche.

He had me sighing in recognition with his beautifully penned words. Can any one of us say honestly that they have not wondered at some point in their lives if someone is out there that will always remember us with love and longing?

The characters of Therese and Maddy are equally complex. They have their own demons. They share a history with this man, a love, a lifetime of sad regrets, and a need to know which of them will be the acknowledged last love of his life.

Author Tom Winton takes us on a journey in this book. A journey that compelled me to read on, often blinded by tears, and just as often feeling anger and frustration with the character of Dean.

These characters will affect you, they made me … feel. I became involved in their lives. I was given the gift of belonging for a time within these pages.

That in my opinion is the measure of a wonderfully talented and gifted author.

I once said of Tom Winton that he ‘writes with a pen dipped in his soul.’

This book reinforces that completely.
If you are to read only one book in this genre this year, I strongly recommend that you make it this one.

Author Bill Kirton with his book..."Alternative Dimension."

Welcome Author Bill Kirton...He has the MOST diverse selection of fans

A "FAN" of Bill Kirton's work?

MEET BILL KIRTON:

Bill was born and brought up in Plymouth but has lived most of his life in Aberdeen, Scotland. He’s been  a university lecturer, actor, director, television presenter and RLF Writing Fellow. He’s written plays, songs and sketches for radio and stage as well as several novels, two of them satirical, one historical, one for children and a series of five police procedurals. He’s won 4 awards and been long-listed for another. He’s also written five books for students on writing, study skills, and work skills.

Joe Lorimer is a genius. His finest achievement is the online role-playing game Alternative Dimension, but he sees it as more than a plaything. He’s fascinated by the freedoms offered by living in a virtual world, and the more sophisticated he makes his creation the more superior it seems to the alienating, faceless, ugly realities of daily life.

Insinuated virtually into his creation he exposes many of the psychological secrets of the folks behind the avatars. There are lovers, killers, crazies, animals, elves, vampires, even Health and Safety inspectors. Their stories are mostly wry observations on the lives we all live and the real societies they live in.

Joe's fascinating attempts to bring the real and virtual together, to fuse the person and the avatar, lead eventually to an outcome which seems a far from ideal solution. Depending on your perspective, the ending is either a triumph or a tragedy.

Book Review: ALTERNATIVE DIMENSIONS. By DrDx.

Don't read this book if you suffer from any condition or syndrome in which laughing, perhaps aggravated by rolling on the floor madly roaring, is associated with sudden cardiac arrest. For Alternative Dimension is packed full of incredibly funny writing, breath-takingly impertinent jokes, in-your-face puns and bizarre situations piled one upon another in surreal chaos. Fortunately for the health of Bill Kirton's rapidly growing army of fans, it's shorter than War and Peace (although as thoroughly researched) and the structure is deceptively simple at first glance. However, layers of erudite allusion and multiple meanings lie packed below the smooth surface, such that a detailed and scholarly commentary would be a challenge well beyond the abilities of this particular reader.

The sustained quality of the writing and the remorseless flow of invention confirm that Kirton is a master at the height of his powers. I'm keeping my options open for the moment, but it certainly seems possible that as Charlie Parker was to jazz, Bill Kirton is to humour.

Author Jeff Blackmere..."The Gears Of Uriel."

Welcome to Author Jeff Blackmer; with his book "The Gears Of Uriel."

Meet the author:
Jeff Blackmer has lived in Portland Oregon for most of his life. He has a love of learning and one may get an idea of his varied interests by looking at his Stumbleupon page:

Photography, humor, astronomy, ancient history, internet tools, computers, space exploration, movies, archaeology, science fiction, mythology, alternative health, health, classic rock, medieval history, comedy, rock and oldies music.

He always wanted to be a science fiction writer and is quite baffled as to how he ended up publishing dark age historical fantasy.

The Gears Of Uriel

Visted by an angel, Theodoros is instructed to make the Gears of Uriel, which is passed from one generation to the next for more than five hundred years. This chosen family are the guardians who
protect it from the evil darkness enveloping our world, casting Theodoros' life into mayhem.

Following each of his descendants and the danger often accompanying the Gears of Uriel, this is a spiritual quest, one which dares to illustrate the nature of religion and how it has often cloaked the truth from mankind with risk of death to the keepers of truth, those heretics who speak up against an organization claiming to be God's mouthpiece and ultimate authority.

The Spiritual conflict spans centuries, illustrating the nature of religious worship, from ancient times to the modern, exposing no matter how much things change, they remain the same.

Set in ancient Greece on the island of Antikythera, Gears of Uriel is vivid, real and surreal, and a smorgasbord of antiquated ritual. Metaphysical historical fantasy has found a true home in this novel. Angels walk with men, the realm of gods has no boundary, and religious family feuds are the most misguided toxin of all. This is a profound tale which delivers a journey worthy of the saints.

REVIEWED: Amazon.com Review by AnLe
Reading The Gears of Uriel by Jeffrey Blackmer, is a little like going on a spiritual journey. We follow the unraveling of organized religion throughout history and are faced with what really matters – spirituality and the eternal strength of the human soul.
This book is exceedingly well-researched, but without bogging the reader down with tiring information. It’s all woven into the body of the story and it works well, is written in a relaxed manner, and is not forced upon the reader. That, I find, is a difficult balance to maintain but is carried off well.
The descriptions of nature are wonderful and vivid – the author has a real knack for them.
Following the story throughout the ages, I became attached to some of the guardians more than others – such as Eudokia and Pascal, whose pain I really felt! – yet, all of the guardians are distinct colorful characters and have a very precise role to play. The angels, too, are very different one from the other, but they always express their wisdom and compassion openly.
The messages in this novel are profound and ignite a spark of curiosity to learn more in the reader. It is a bold and challenging novel, and one that requires soul searching to understand what the real truth is. I’m sure there will be some who will not agree with what the author is writing, but I think it is definitely worth reading and I would certainly recommend it. Its fantastical elements are counterbalanced well with the small details which ground this book in an interesting blend of spiritual realism, history and fantasy, as well as the metaphysical. A very interesting read!
